BP PLC. (BP) plans to perform maintenance next week at its refinery in Carson, Calif., a person familiar with the refinery said Friday.
The planned maintenance won't affect supply at the 265,000 barrel-a-day refinery, the person said.
BP said in a Friday filing with California's South Coast Air Quality Management District it will flare sulfur dioxide and other gases between Dec. 9 and Dec. 13.
A flaring event occurs when refineries make a controlled burn of the gas found in equipment, and can indicate maintenance work is to be done.
