BP said Wednesday that it has reintroduced its program to provide free fuel for emergency vehicles in the U.K., as part of its goal to help those fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
The move comes as Covid-19 cases continue to soar and new strains of the virus emerge around the world.
The British oil major said it will supply fuel free of charge to emergency-services vehicles in the U.K. until the end of March. The company ran a similar program last year in which it donated more than 10 million liters of fuel to vehicles including those from the British National Health Service, the police and fire-emergency services.
The company added that it has donated 250,000 meals to an initiative spearheaded by food-delivery company Deliveroo to provide free meals for frontline health workers. The companies will distribute the food free of charge to staff and volunteers at vaccination centers in the U.K.
