NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Brookdale senior living communities in 15 states are giving back to their local communities by delivering Thanksgiving meals to seniors in their areas. Associates at more than 200 Brookdale senior living communities are working closely with local community partners to identify seniors who live alone or otherwise would not receive a traditional Thanksgiving dinner this year.

The Thanksgiving dinners are being prepared by Brookdale chefs and are being delivered by staff and partners November 22 through November 28. Staff members estimate that, combined, they will prepare and deliver more than 2,700 meals that will include turkey with all the fixings, such as cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans and pumpkin pie.

"It's our way of giving back and enriching the lives of seniors," said Joska J. W. Hajdu, senior vice president, Brookdale dining services. "Our culinary experts have come together to plan a special menu just for Thanksgiving and we hope these meals make a positive difference this holiday season. I know as they make their meal deliveries, our associates and their community partners are looking forward to visiting with these seniors."

Brookdale communities participating in the "Giving Thanks by Giving Back" initiative are located in: Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin, Tex.; Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; Chicago, Ill.; Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Detroit, Mich.; Dayton, Ohio; Minneapolis, Minn.; Portland, Ore.; Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Greater Kansas City, Kan. and Mo.; Seattle, Wash.; Jacksonville, Fla. and Indianapolis, Ind.
