South Korea has grounded nine Boeing Co. (BA) 737 NG planes after authorities found cracks in their fuselages that require repair.
The grounding was confirmed Friday by the country's transport ministry, which found cracks in nine out of 42 older Boeing 737 NGs. The planes were put under examination earlier this month after a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration order to inspect the planes for structural cracks.
Of the grounded planes, five were operated by Korean Air Lines Co. (003490.SE), three by Jin Air Co. (272450.SE) and one by Jeju Air Co. (089590.SE), according to the ministry.
The ministry has placed a total of 150 Boeing 737 NGs under examination, with the remaining 108 planes still under inspection.
