Shell Canada's Linda Cook Elected to Boeing Board of Directors
CHICAGO, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Boeing Company today announced
that Linda Cook, president and chief executive officer of Shell Canada, has been
elected to the Boeing board of directors, effective Dec. 1.
"With her broad international experience and leadership role in a global
company, Linda brings a fresh perspective and an added dimension to our board,"
said Boeing Chairman and CEO Phil Condit.
Cook, 45, is currently based in Calgary, Alberta where she leads one of Canada's
largest integrated petroleum companies, producing natural gas, natural gas
liquids and bitumen. Shell Canada is also Canada's largest producer of sulphur,
and a leading manufacturer, distributor and marketer of refined petroleum
products.
Prior to her current role, Cook served for three years in London as chief
executive officer for Shell Gas & Power, where she was responsible for the
global natural gas and power generation activities of the Royal Dutch/Shell
Group. Her 23-year Shell career has also taken her to The Hague in the
Netherlands where she worked as Director, Strategy & Business Development for
Shell's Exploration & Production Global Executive Committee.
Cook joined Shell Oil Company in Houston in 1980, after graduating from the
University of Kansas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. She worked in
Houston and California in a variety of technical and managerial positions until
1998 when she moved to The Hague.
Cook is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, a member of the Harvard
School of Government Dean's Council, and a member of the Canadian Council of
Chief Executives.
Originally from Kansas City, Kansas, she and her husband, Steve, have three
children.
