Ryanair Holdings PLC on Thursday signed purchase orders for 75 additional Boeing Co. 737 MAX-8200 aircraft.
The Irish airline said the agreement increases its 737 MAX-8200 firm order to 210 planes from 135, for a total value of more than $22 billion. The aircraft will be delivered from spring 2021 until December 2024.
"We hope to take delivery of at least 50 of these aircraft in 2021, subject to Boeing recovering its manufacturing output to deliver them," Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O'Leary said.
Ryanair said the new planes will be used to expand its services into new European Union countries and markets as life returns to normal after the coronavirus pandemic is contained.
