Boeing Co. (BA) on Monday said Vietnamese startup Bamboo Airways committed to buy 20 787-9 Dreamliners in a deal that would be worth $5.6B at current list prices, when finalized.
The Chicago aerospace giant said Bamboo completed the deposit requirement in mid-June to reserve the 20 airplanes, which are tentatively schedule for delivery from April 2020 through 2021.
Bamboo, owned by FLC Group JSC (FLC.VH), plans to begin commercial operations in 2019 out of Hanoi. FLC earlier this year inked a memorandum of understanding with Boeing rival Airbus SE (AIR.FR) for up to 24 A321neo aircraft.
