All Nippon Airways has agreed to buy eight new planes from Boeing Co. in an order valued at about $1.4 billion, the aircraft maker said Friday morning.
The order includes three 787-10 Dreamliners and five next-generation, narrow-body 737-800s.
Boeing said ANA, its newest customer for the 787-10 model, has taken 34 787 deliveries, more than any other customer, and 46 are still on order.
The Dreamliner has drawn more than 1,000 orders since 2004, and Boeing expects orders to grow later this year as available delivery dates get closer.
However, the plane, which had experienced several delays, has been expensive for Boeing. The company estimates its losses on deferred production costs could be around $28 billion.
Boeing earlier this week said its profit for the fourth quarter rose 20%, but warned that declining oil prices could weigh on demand for the plane maker's fuel-efficient aircraft this year.
Earlier Friday, ANA Holdings Inc. posted its most recent financial results, saying its profit rose 57% during the nine-month period ended in December because of strong performance on international routes.
