It hasn’t rained in droves for a while, but when it does what better way to make use of a freefalling natural resource than to catch it in a barrel for irrigation? All summer long, New Jersey American Water will run its “Capture the Rain” raffle on Facebook in which one lucky person will win a rain barrel each month.

“New Jersey American Water has always advised our customers to use water wisely,” said Peter Eschbach, director of communications and external affairs for New Jersey American Water. “With the Capture the Rain contest, we’re encouraging our customers to also use the rain wisely. Storing rainwater as an additional source of irrigation really comes in handy during hot, dry weather periods and can save a homeowner money as well.”

To enter the raffle, New Jersey residents must first “Like” New Jersey American Water’s Facebook page and fill out an entry form. Entrants may earn more chances to win by sharing or Tweeting about the contest to their friends and/or followers.

New Jersey American Water, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 2.6 million people.
