Missouri American Water brings "Wings Over Water" to local schools and celebrations

In honor of Earth Day on April 22, Missouri American Water is bringing the World Bird Sanctuary’s “Wings Over Water” watershed education programs to schools and Earth Day events across Missouri.

Wings Over Water features birds of prey up close and in flight – illustrating the importance of clean rivers to wildlife and the environment. Rivers provide water, food and habitat to the eagles, hawks and owls featured in the programs. The Missouri River is also the source of drinking water for about half of all Missourians. Public programs include:

Thursday, April 21 Jefferson City, Mo.

  • Runge Nature Center, Missouri Department of Conservation – 330 Commerce Dr., Jefferson City – two public programs – 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Friday, April 22 – Jefferson City, Mo.

  • 11:00 a.m. to noon, Missouri State Capitol Lawn – Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Earth Day program for children.

Friday, April 22Mexico, Mo.

  • 5:00 p.m. City of Mexico Earth Day – Lakeview Park, corner of Lakeview and Fairgrounds Roads.

Sunday, April 24 St. Louis, Mo.

  • 11:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. St. Louis Earth Day – Community Stage near the Muny ticket booth.
