American Water (NYSE: AWK), the nation’s largest publicly traded water and wastewater utility company, today announced Dr. Mark LeChevallier, director of Innovation & Environmental Stewardship, and Mark Strauss, senior vice president, Corporate Strategy and Business Development will participate in the United States Conference of Mayors Water Council Spring meeting in Santa Barbara, California, on April 13 and 14.

LeChevallier will present on “Technology and Emerging Challenges for Local Water Managers” and discuss American Water’s Innovation Development Process, the advantages of the company’s footprint and technical expertise, and some examples of American Water’s recent innovations.

On Friday, Apr 14, Strauss will present on the topic, “Public Water Infrastructure Investment and Finance” and discuss American Water’s commitment to addressing our nation's infrastructure challenges and how it is critical that the public and private sectors work together to develop solutions.

The primary purpose of the Mayors Water Council (MWC) is to assist local governments in providing high quality water resources in a cost effective manner. The MWC provides a forum for local governments to share information on water technology, management methods, operational experience, and financing of infrastructure development. The MWC also provides a forum to assist local government in exploring competition and public-private partnership approaches, and alternative methods of financing water infrastructure development.
