LONDON--Airbus Group NV on Monday said Air Lease Corp. (AL) has finalized the purchase of 55 jetliners in a deal valued at more than $10 billion at list prices.
Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corp. is acquiring 25 A330-900 long-range jets and 30 A321LR single-aisle planes, the Toulouse-based planemaker said in a statement. Los Angeles-based Air Lease Corp. previously disclosed the purchase plans.
Air Lease Corp. is the first buyer of the A321LR, an extended range-version of Airbus's largest narrowbody. The plane is designed as to replace the out-of-production Boeing Co. 757 jet used on transcontinental U.S. flights and some transatlantic operations. Deliveries of the A321LR are due to begin in 2019, Airbus said.
The leasing company also is one of the first buyers of the A330-900, an upgraded version of the A330 now in service featuring new engines to boost efficiency. Airbus introduced the A330-900 last year and plans to deliver the first model in late 2017.
