AbbVie Inc. (ABBV) and Shire PLC (SHP.LN) executives are in active talks about a potential takeover of Shire, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
AbbVie CEO Richard Gonzalez is in New York meeting with Shire officials, the people said.
AbbVie has offered to acquire Shire for about $51.5 billion, the report said.
