The three-day conference (Sept. 28-30) focuses on the challenges facing
powertrain development from social, business and technology perspectives. The
first day sessions will feature issue presentations and panel discussions. The
second and third day sessions will focus on technical presentations. Greenway,
who directs Visteon's global powertrain product development, will speak as part
of the panel on Powertrain Resource Stewardship - Initiatives for Optimization
in Product and Process.
"We, as an industry, have the responsibility to understand the market and
identify the technology roadmaps and investments that will contribute to the
advancement of the industry and add value," said Greenway. "Today, the
commercial and regulatory drivers that would lead the value proposition for
technology investment are not aligned. Studies show most consumers do not
place fuel economy and reduced emission high in their purchase decision
priorities and the regulatory requirements are not in place that would drive
powertrain improvements. Meanwhile as an industry, we know the fuel situation
that looms ahead and we are trying to drive technology to meet the needs of the
future. As an industry we must clearly focus on the near-term solutions that
will take us to the future."
