MCALLEN, Texas, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRBS) (Texas Regional or the Company), bank holding company for Texas State Bank, announced today that Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A. (BBVA) received regulatory approval from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for the acquisition of the Company. On September 25, 2006, the shareholders of Texas Regional approved the merger with BBVA at a special meeting. The transaction may not be consummated prior to fifteen days following approval by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Other Information Texas Regional is a McAllen-based bank holding company whose stock trades on The NASDAQ Stock Market(R) under the symbol TRBS.
