The Oncology Institute Expands its Specialty Medication Business by Opening Pharmacy Operations in California

The Oncology Institute, Inc. (TOI) announced today that it has started operations of its first pharmacy in California after receiving approval from the California State Board of Pharmacy. This new service allows TOI to fill not only critical specialty medications and chemotherapeutics for MediCal patients, but also to provide medication fill capabilities to other patient populations. Located in the Los Angeles area, this new pharmacy location comes in addition to the multiple integrated specialty medication dispensaries that TOI already uses to manage oral and injectable medications.

“We are ecstatic that we finally have the opportunity to significantly expand our oral drug business with this new pharmacy location,” shared Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Daniel Virnich. “We are seeking to address the cancer care costs of hundreds of thousands of MediCal patients that we were unable to serve through our dispensaries. Now, we expect to be able to fill their medications more quickly and conveniently.”
