Sybase Classic Supports the Fight Against Breast Cancer NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tournament officials for the Sybase Classic presented by Lincoln Mercury today announced The Greater New York City Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (Komen Greater NYC) as its new official charity. Seventy-five percent of the tournament proceeds will support the local New York programs and twenty-five percent is designated for nationwide cancer research. The Sybase Classic returns to the historic Wykagyl Country Club May 16-22, 2005. "Building on the LPGA Tour's relationship with the Susan G. Komen national office, we're thrilled to associate our tournament with Komen Greater NYC," said Tournament Director Leela Narang. "This relationship allows us to impact breast cancer research and grassroots programs in the immediate tri-state area and that's very important to us." "Sybase is honored to establish this partnership and committed to supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation," said Marty Beard, senior vice president of Corporate Development and Marketing for Sybase. "This is our fifth year as the title sponsor of this global event. "Our partnership with the Sybase Classic provides us with an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the cause," said Nicole Rubin, Executive Director, Komen Greater NYC. "We greatly appreciate the generosity and support and look forward to participating in this exciting event." The Sybase Classic has incorporated numerous initiatives leading up to and during tournament week that will build awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Special ticket packages, promotions and on-site activities will provide tournament spectators an opportunity to join the local fight against breast cancer.
