Shares of Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) are among the most actively traded Wednesday, gaining over 11% a day after the company and Apple Inc. (AAPL) announced a settlement to dismiss all litigation related to the companies' battle over patent royalties.
At 1:52 p.m. ET, Qualcomm's shares had risen 10.89% to trade at $78.10. More than 117.8 million shares had traded, above the 65-day average volume of some 15.4 million.
Apple shares also are up on the day, gaining 1.98% to trade at $203.18.
The terms of the settlement also include a six-year licensing agreement, a multiyear chipset supply agreement and a payment from Apple to Qualcomm.
