Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ: OMAB; BMV: OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 10.7% in October 2018, as compared to October 2017. Domestic traffic increased 11.5%, and international traffic increased 4.1%.

* Terminal passengers: includes passengers on the three types of aviation (commercial, charter, and general aviation), and excludes passengers in transit.

During October 2018, domestic traffic increased in all our airports, with the largest increases in:

  • Monterrey (+10.5%), with 51% of total domestic traffic, benefited from increases in the number of passengers on the Mexico City, Cancún and Guadalajara routes. 
  • Culiacán (+19.1%) increased traffic on the Tijuana and Guadalajara routes. 
  • Ciudad Juárez (+20.8%) increased traffic on the Guadalajara and Mexico City routes. 
  • Chihuahua (+13.9%) increased traffic on the Cancún and Mexico City routes.

In October 2018, Vivaaerobus started flying the Monterrey – Toluca route, and Volaris opened the Zihuatanejo – Tijuana route.

International traffic grew in eight airports in October, with the largest increases in:

  • Monterrey (+2.8%), as a result of increases in the number of passengers on the Detroit route.  
  • Zacatecas (+25.6%) increased traffic on the San Jose, California route.

Of total passenger traffic, 99.2% was commercial, and 0.8% was general aviation.
