Activision Blizzard Inc. said it still sees long-term growth opportunities in China despite the impending expiration of its 14-year licensing partnership with NetEase Inc.
Santa Monica, Calif.-based videogame company Activision Blizzard said Thursday that it is looking for alternative ways to serve the gaming community affected by its split with China's NetEase. After the two companies failed to reach a deal renewing their licensing agreements, Activision Blizzard said it would halt most online-game services in China on Jan. 24.
The agreements covered some of subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment Inc.'s most popular titles in China, including "World of Warcraft," "StarCraft" and "Diablo III."
Activision Blizzard said Thursday that the agreements at issue contributed approximately 3% of the company's revenue in 2021.
