Navient awards grant to Make-A-Wish

Employees of local employer Navient raised $9,000 to support Make-A-Wish®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

"We are thrilled to have the support of Navient's employees for a second year. Their dedication to our mission and the children in their local community is inspiring," said Kelsey Leichtnam, development officer, Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana. "Navient has helped to create lasting memories for a very special wish family. We could not do our work without partners like Navient."

The grant was 100 percent funded by employee contributions from Navient's Jeans BeCause Program. The program offers participating employees a "pass" to dress casually on certain days for their volunteer donations.

It is one of several workplace events and fundraising activities planned by an employee-led committee to support local charities in the area. A few other nonprofits that have benefited from the program this year include: Humane Society of Hamilton County, American Cancer Society of Central Indiana, Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana, and Gleaners Food Bank.
