Mattress Firm Participates in Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s National Call-In Day

Mattress Firm, Inc., the nation’s largest specialty mattress retailer, today announced that it expects more than 500 company employees to participate in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s National Call-In Day on June 18th. The National Call-In Day urges pancreatic cancer advocates across the country to call-in to Congress and ask for additional funding for pancreatic cancer research.

“Pancreatic Cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer and also the most under-funded,” said Steve Stagner, president and CEO of Mattress Firm. “We hope that by creating more awareness for pancreatic cancer and urging Congress to fund more research, that we’ll be able to find a cure in our lifetime.”

Mattress Firm is an avid supporter of pancreatic cancer research and awareness through the company’s own Mattress Firm Foundation organization and through similarly aligned organizations like the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Mattress Firm employees regularly participate in local Purple Stride walks, community outreach events and fundraise to support the cause.

In 2012, Mattress Firm raised $75,000 and volunteered approximately 2,000 hours in support of pancreatic cancer research. More than 400 Mattress Firm employees placed calls to Congress during the 2012 National Call-In. These calls were a tremendous help in augmenting the in-person meetings that occurred during Advocacy Day.
