Connections in Key Cities Expand Route Maps for Both Airlines

JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) today announced it has expanded its partnership with Icelandair and now offers the JetBlue ‘B6’ code on flights operated by Icelandair between five JetBlue cities and Reykjavik-Keflavík International Airport (KEF). Today’s milestone expands the partnership between JetBlue and Icelandair which was established in 2011 and offers customers the convenience of one-stop check-in and baggage transfers on a single ticket.

Customers traveling between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Icelandair’s base in Reykjavik may purchase tickets directly with JetBlue. In the future, the ‘B6’ code will be placed on additional Icelandair routes between the U.S. and Reykjavik and on flights beyond Iceland to select destinations in Scandinavia and Continental Europe.

“Visiting Iceland’s natural landscapes from JetBlue’s extensive East Coast network is as simple as visiting jetblue.com,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president commercial and planning at JetBlue. “Our combined presence in these key cities means that JetBlue along with Icelandair will be able to provide more seamless travel options than ever before to destinations across the U.S. and abroad.”

Additionally, Iceland is growing in popularity as a vacation destination with its abundant activities, unique culture and expansive nature and wildlife. Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital, is the epicenter of Iceland’s rich culture and art scenes. The city boasts attractions like Austurvllur, the green square in front of Parliament and Laugavegur, the main thoroughfare, which offers shopping, stopping for coffee, and people watching.

“This is an important milestone for Icelandair and will open up new opportunities for those traveling to Iceland and beyond,” said Birkir Holm Gudnason, CEO, Icelandair. “Our like-minded business models and customer amenities will offer uniformed service throughout our networks. We are pleased to welcome JetBlue aboard.”

JetBlue is known for its award-winning service featuring the most legroom in coach (a); free Fly-Fi, the fastest broadband internet in the sky; complimentary and unlimited name-brand snacks and soft drinks; free, live DIRECTV® programming and 100+ channels of SiriusXM® radio in every seatback.
