Itron’s OpenWay Riva™ IoT Solution Receives Grid Edge 2016 Award for Leadership at the Edge

Greentech Media recognizes Itron’s groundbreaking technology for “demonstrated potential to shape tomorrow’s distributed energy system”

Itron, Inc. The Grid Edge Awards represent the top 20 companies or projects that have a demonstrated potential to shape tomorrow’s distributed energy system.

Greentech Media recognized Itron for its OpenWay Riva IoT solution, which combines a powerful distributed computing platform for edge devices with enhanced communications capabilities to enable new applications and use cases for electric, gas and water utilities and smart cities. These include applications to improve grid and pipeline safety, efficiency, reliability and asset management; to accommodate more renewable and distributed generation onto the grid; and to drive improvements in customer-facing applications such as demand response, energy efficiency and water conservation.

The Grid Edge Awards identify companies that embody grid edge industry transformation. Winners include pioneers, established technology vendors, utilities, energy providers and others who showcase innovative products, market-disrupting business models and an overall forward-looking vision. Awardees are nominated by and voted on by energy industry stakeholders, including the team of analysts at GTM Research.
