German premium car maker Audi AG (NSU.XE) said Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sweden's Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (ERIC) to explore the potential of the 5G telecommunication standard as a technology for automotive manufacturing.
As a first trial, Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) Audi and Ericsson will test the technology on two wirelessly connected production robots, Audi said.
