Two Montgomery County Hospitals and Two Washington DC Hospitals Will Share Funds Raised by Eagle Bancorp Foundation

Cokie Roberts Named Honorary Chair of October Charity Golf Event 


BETHESDA, Md., July 28  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Eagle Bancorp, Inc., headquartered in Bethesda, MD, has selected Suburban Hospital and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Montgomery County, MD, and Washington Hospital Center and Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, to receive the proceeds from the bank's upcoming golf tournament fundraiser.  This second annual EagleBank Foundation Fight Breast Cancer Golf Classic will be held October 9, 2006, at Woodmont Country Club.  Last year, EagleBank raised $80,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.  This year's goal is $100,000 and will be split between the four organizations.

"After considering and meeting with many worthwhile organizations devoted to breast cancer research, patient support and finding a cure, we settled on two hospitals in Montgomery County and two in DC.  Selecting was very difficult," commented Don Rogers of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, P.A.; EagleBank Board Member; and President, EagleBank Foundation.  "These organizations serve Montgomery County and Washington, DC, respectively, which are also the focus communities for EagleBank branches and business," continued Rogers.  Rogers also heads the golf tournament committee which is comprised of dedicated board members, spouses, community friends and bank employees.

The EagleBank Foundation is also honored to announce Cokie Roberts' gracious acceptance to serve as Honorary Chair of the event.  Roberts is senior news analyst for NPR and political commentator for ABC News.  She and her family have been touched by breast cancer.  Roberts' involvement in efforts to fight the disease have inspired and encouraged donations and created valuable awareness.
