Applied DNA Sciences Announces Affiliation with Two Experts

STONY BROOK, N.Y., Dec. 8  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applied DNA Sciences, Inc. (OTC:APDN) (BULLETIN BOARD: APDN) , a DNA security solutions company, today announced that it has entered into consulting agreements with two experts renowned in their fields of work. John Twilley and Thomas A. Nicolette both bring to APDN years of relevant experience which will be used by APDN as it grows its customer base and pursues new and existing markets for its SigNature(TM) Program.

John Twilley is renowned in the field of art conservation with over thirty years of experience.  Mr. Twilley has written numerous publications and over 600 unpublished scientific reports on the conservation of art and related topics.  Mr. Twilley has held research positions in industry as well as serving as Conservation Scientist at the J. Paul Getty Museum.   He held the position of Senior Research Scientist at the Conservation Center of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and taught art and artifacts conservation at the graduate level within the University of California for twenty years.  Mr. Twilley is renowned for his expertise in authentication and conservation of artworks, with a recent emphasis on Asian Art.  Mr. Twilley currently has a successful independent practice in conservation science and is assisting APDN in the area of art and collectibles as it pursues this important target market.

Fine art and collectibles are especially vulnerable to counterfeiting, forgeries and fraud.  APDN believes that its SigNature(TM) DNA Markers can be safely embedded directly in all forms of artwork and collectibles and thus can be used to designate and authenticate these valuables.  These DNA Markers can also be embedded in any original supporting documentation related to the artwork or collectibles, in the signature of the artist and in any other relevant material that would provide provenance.  Mr. Twilley's expertise in art conservation will assist APDN in the fine art and collectibles market where material compatibility and longevity issues are paramount and where unique security concerns exist, thereby helping to penetrate this important market segment.

Thomas A. Nicolette brings over thirty years of experience with security solutions companies to his association with APDN. Having previously held senior management and Board of Director positions in the Authentication and Anti-Shoplifting Industries, Mr. Nicolette brings his knowledge of the industry and the competitive landscape to APDN.  Using this knowledge and experience, Mr. Nicolette will be assisting APDN in developing new customers for APDN's SigNature(TM) Program in its identified target markets worldwide. These markets initially include fine wine, art and collectibles, consumer products, digital and recording media, pharmaceuticals and homeland security.
