AdStar to Brand and Market Data Based Ads Advertising Technology
New Solutions Target Large 'Do-It-Yourself' Advertising Market Potential
MARINA DEL REY, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AdStar, Inc.
(NASDAQ:ADSTNASDAQ:ADSTW), a leading applications service provider of
e-commerce transaction technology for the advertising and publishing
industries, today signed a marketing agreement with Data Based Ads, Inc. (DBA)
to become the reseller for DBA's next generation Internet advertising product,
SmarterAds(TM). The product will be incorporated into AdStar's brand and
product suite, which includes AdStar's Web-based and remote entry
ad-transaction technologies and EdgCapture, the newspaper industry's leading
payment processing solution.
"DBA has been extremely successful within the real estate market by providing
value-added services to do-it-yourself and professional advertisers and to
several of the nation's largest newspapers," stated Leslie Bernhard, president
and chief executive officer of AdStar, Inc. "DBA's innovative, web-based
products allow newspapers to increase ad revenues by providing user-friendly
advertising opportunities to people with little advertising experience or that
traditionally shy away from advertising in large metropolitan newspapers. We
will work closely with DBA to develop and implement new products that support
and are compatible with our transaction-based ASP model. Our goal is to
continue providing customers with features, services and technology that can
produce incremental revenue-generating opportunities."
DBA's products include the following:
* SmarterAds -- an Internet-based platform that empowers newspapers to
capture new revenue streams from do-it-yourself advertisers, rebuild
their print and online real estate franchises with results-oriented
ads, and compete more effectively with pure-play Internet companies.
* AdMaster(TM) -- a web-based ad management system that collects,
distributes and publishes real estate ads for large real estate broker
clients with complex advertising schedules.
* AdMaker(TM) -- proprietary production software that enables DBA to
deliver over 300 tabloid-equivalent pages of advertising per week to
newspapers throughout the country.
As part of the agreement, DBA will host, manage and support a branded product
for AdStar that will provide the same functionality as DBA's SmarterAds and
HomePagesUSA and include the following features:
* Newspaper controlled ad pricing, promotion codes and deadline setup,
* Online data collection for print and online ads,
* Online ad scheduling and payment,
* Search features, and
* Templates for categories other than real estate (e.g. autos,
announcements, sales events, garage sales, etc.).
"As the leading provider of ad-transaction technology for the publishing
industry, AdStar has an outstanding reputation that can help us grow the number
of newspapers and advertisers that implement our solutions," commented Michael
Scotty, president and chief executive officer of DBA. "We look forward to
working with AdStar in the development of products for new and existing
customers. Our objective is to support AdStar's overall efforts to provide the
best possible advertising solutions to its customers through its ASP
infrastructure."
DBA will be responsible for ongoing product development, maintenance and
technical support of new customers, while AdStar will provide sales and
customer service support. New products initiated under the marketing agreement
will be developed and implemented as web services with application programming
interfaces to facilitate customization for AdStar's customers.
