Atlantic Coast Airlines Reports June 2004 Traffic
DULLES, Va., July 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Atlantic Coast Airlines (ACA)
(NASDAQ:ACAI) today reported preliminary consolidated passenger traffic results
for its United Express, Delta Connection and Independence Air flights operated
in June 2004. Systemwide, the company generated 224,478 million revenue
passenger miles (RPMs), a 24.5 percent decrease over the same month last year,
while available seat miles (ASMs) were 296,515 million, a 22.9 percent
decrease. Load factor was 75.7 percent versus 77.3 percent in June 2003. For
the month, 579,582 passengers were carried, a 23.9 percent decrease over the
same month last year.
For the second quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared to the same period in
2003, RPMs were at 776,735 million, a decrease of 9.1 percent, while ASMs were
1,051,347 billion, a 7.4 percent decrease. The company carried 1,977,751
passengers for the second quarter ended June 30, 2004, compared to 2,181,332 in
2003, a decrease of 9.3 percent on a year-over-year basis.
On June 16, 2004, the company began service as Independence Air, its low- fare
airline based at Washington Dulles International Airport. Independence Air
will continue to add new destinations and flights throughout July and August,
growing to 600 daily systemwide departures by summer's end, making Washington
Dulles the largest low-fare hub in America.
ACA also operates as Delta Connection and United Express in the Eastern and
Midwestern United States as well as Canada. ACA employs approximately 4,200
aviation professionals.
