Abrams Industries Acquires iTendant, Inc.
Servidyne Systems adds state-of-the-art Web-based platform and enhances
development capabilities
ATLANTA, April 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ABRAMS INDUSTRIES, INC. , an
energy management, construction services and real estate company, today
announced that Servidyne Systems, LLC, its wholly owned energy management
subsidiary, has acquired the operating business and assets of Atlanta-based
iTendant, Inc., a provider of service request and maintenance software to
commercial building owners and operators. iTendant uses innovative Web and
wireless technologies to help its customers ensure the highest levels of tenant
satisfaction with the lowest operating costs. The acquisition increases Abrams
Industries' portfolio of offerings designed to improve facility operating
performance and lower costs, while improving the level of service and comfort
for building tenants and guests.
The iTendant platform is a comprehensive Web and wireless maintenance and
service solution that seamlessly connects property owners, managers, engineers,
tenants and service providers in order to improve communication and increase
visibility into building operations. The iTendant system enables its customers
to more accurately track, measure and act on service requests and routine
maintenance schedules, and creates an environment where all parties -- tenants,
facilities managers, property managers, vendors and owners -- interact
collaboratively to improve workflow. Further information about iTendant's
software can be found at http://www.itendant.com/ .
Alan Abrams, Co-Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Abrams
Industries, noted that the iTendant acquisition marks another important step in
Abrams Industries' ongoing strategic repositioning, and expands the company's
base of higher margin recurring revenues. "We continue to seek ways to broaden
the scope and value of our facility services and offerings, and iTendant brings
a first class software development team to Servidyne, as well as a prestigious
customer base of Class A commercial office owners and managers. We are very
pleased to offer our customers a user-friendly Web-based application with
wireless connectivity. Augmenting Servidyne's maintenance expertise and service
offerings by incorporating iTendant's Web and wireless capabilities will allow
us to meet the demands of our larger corporate customers, who increasingly
require portfolio-wide reporting and better ways to use wireless devices for
managing scheduled and unscheduled work orders and for facilitating rapid
response to service requests."
"We are excited about joining forces with Servidyne," said Steve Hassett,
President and Chief Executive Officer of iTendant. "Our customers will
certainly benefit from Abrams' financial resources as well as Servidyne's deep
maintenance and engineering expertise. Together, we will be better able to
continue enhancing our industry-leading software applications and offer
innovative new products and services." Lee Asher, iTendant's Chief Operating
Officer, added: "Our customers will continue to receive the same high level of
service they have come to expect from iTendant, but now we will be able to
offer them many of the expanded facility services they have been requesting."
Separately, Abrams Industries announced that it has added to its portfolio of
income-producing properties with the Company's recent purchase of a two- story
medical professional office building in Douglasville, Georgia, a fast growing
submarket of metropolitan Atlanta. The building qualifies as a replacement
property under Section 1033 of the Internal Revenue Code, allowing the Company
to defer income taxes that resulted from the gain on the eminent domain taking
in 1999 of the Company's former wood manufacturing facility in downtown
Atlanta.
