Extending previous session downtrend, the US currency plunged further against the South African rand in New York afternoon deals on Wednesday. The greenback fell to a 1-month low of 7.4819 versus the rand by about 2:35 pm ET, compared to Tuesday's New York session close of 7.6013. The dollar has been in a downward channel against the rand for the past 6 days.
