Extending previous session downtrend, the US currency tumbled further against the South African rand during New York afternoon deals on Thursday. The greenback-rand pair that closed yesterday's New York session at 7.7688, plunged to a 9-day low of 7.5350 by about 1:45 pm ET. As of now, the pair is trading near 7.5625. The dollar has been in a downward channel against the rand for the past 6 days.
