The Japanese yen strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Thursday.

The yen rose to nearly a 5-month high of 108.72 against the U.S. dollar and nearly a 3-month high of 136.49 against the pound, from yesterday's closing quotes of 108.99 and 136.69, respectively.

Against the euro, the Swiss franc and the Canadian dollar, the yen advanced to 115.99, 108.53 and 82.12 from yesterday's closing quotes of 116.23, 108.60 and 82.27, respectively.

If the yen extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 107.00 against the greenback, 135.00 against the pound, 114.00 against the euro, 107.00 against the franc and 81.00 against the loonie.
