The British pound weakened against the other major currencies in the early European session on Friday.
The pound fell to 1.5636 against the U.S. dollar and 188.89 against the yen, from yesterday's closing quotes of 1.5689 and 189.65, respectively.
Pulling away from an early more than a 2-month high of 0.7089 against the euro and more than a 3-week high of 1.4684 against the Swiss franc, the pound edged down to 0.7137 and 1.4581, respectively.
If the pound extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around 1.52 against the greenback, 183.00 against the yen, 0.74 against the euro and 1.40 against the franc.
