US Futures, European Stocks Mostly Flat

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.1% in morning trading. Orpea rose 5.9% and Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget added 5.5%. On the other hand, Carnival dropped 4.3%, and A.P. Moeller-Maersk B slipped 3.9%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were flat as France's CAC 40 was flat and Germany's DAX was flat.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 96.07.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.2% to $80.68 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 0.3% to $75.33 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 1.956% from 1.964%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 2 basis points to 3.876% from 3.9%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.1%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 1.7%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.5%.
