U.S. stock futures edged lower Friday, putting the S&P 500 on track to end the week with muted gains after earlier notching its ninth record closing high for 2021.
Futures on the S&P 500 ticked 0.2% lower and futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.2%. Changes in equity futures don't necessarily predict market moves after the opening bell.
The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasurys held at 1.157%, where it closed Thursday. Yields move inversely to bond prices.
Overseas, the Stoxx Europe 600 edged down 0.2%. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 shed 0.3%.
The Swiss franc, the euro and the British pound dropped 0.1% against the U.S. dollar.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.9% to $60.60 a barrel. Gold fell 0.7% to $1,813.40 a troy ounce.
The German 10-year bund yield was at minus 0.453% and the U.K. 10-year gilts yield was at 0.482%.
In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.1%. Markets in China, Hong Kong and South Korea were closed.
