Stocks in the Nordic region rose Wednesday, with the OMX Nordic 40 Index rising 0.5%.

Filo Corp. was the biggest leader during the session, rising 7.0%, and Bakkafrost P/F gained 6.0%. Camurus AB rounded out the top three leaders on Wednesday, with shares gaining 5.6%.

Vitrolife AB posted the largest decline, declining 6.1%, followed by OX2 AB shares, which dropped 5.5%. Shares of Carlsberg A/S Series A fell 5.4%.

In Denmark, the OMX Copenhagen 20 Index gained 1.1%, while the OMX Helsinki 25 Index, which tracks Finland's most-traded stocks, fell 0.3%.

Stocks on Sweden's OMX Stockholm 30 Index dropped 0.1%, while Norway's Oslo Exchange Benchmark Index_GI dropped 0.4%. Shares in Iceland decreased, with the OMX Iceland All-Share PI Equity Index falling 1.3%.

Elsewhere in Europe, indexes fell, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index declining 0.2% and the FTSE 100 Index declining 0.4% from the previous close.

Stock indexes in Asia were mixed, with Japan's NIKKEI 225 Index up 2.0% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.5%.

In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 0.7%, and gold futures were flat. Bitcoin climbed 0.3% to $45,689.

On the currency front, the WSJ Dollar Index increased 0.1% to 97.02.

Against the euro, the Icelandic krona was up 0.3%, the Danish krone was flat, the Swedish krona was flat, the Norwegian krone was down 0.2%, and the U.S. dollar was down 0.3%.
