Portuguese telecommunications company Sonaecom SGPS S/A (SNC.LB) said Wednesday its third-quarter net profit jumped by almost eight-fold on the year on strong mobile operations.

The company said its third-quarter net profit grew to EUR10.1 million from EUR1.3 million over the same period a year earlier.

Revenue decreased slightly to EUR233.8 million in the third quarter from EUR235 million, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or Ebitda, climbed 10% to EUR49.5 million.

Sonaecom, controlled by Portuguese conglomerate Sonae SGPS SA (SON.LB), is a competitor of Portugal Telecom SGPS SA (PT) and Zon Multimedia SGPS SA (ZON.LB).
