Change of Nyrstar’s scheduled date for the publication of the Half Year Results 2019 and production update for Half Year 2019

Nyrstar NV ("Nyrstar" or the “Company”) has previously announced that, related to the implementation steps for the successful restructuring of the Group which was completed on 31 July 2019 and the work with its auditor to deliver an audit opinion for the financial statements for the financial year ended 31 December 2018, the publication of the Half Year Results 2019 were previously rescheduled to Monday 30 September 2019. Nyrstar today announces that, due to the time taken to complete the audit opinion for the financial statements for the financial year ended 31 December 2018, the Company requires additional time to complete the financial consolidation of the Half Year Results 2019, the publication of the Half Year Results 2019 are now being rescheduled to Friday 29 November 2019.

Production Update H1 2019Nyrstar’s Metals Processing segment produced approximately 480,000 tonnes of zinc metal in H1 2019, representing a 9% decrease on H1 2018. The decrease in zinc metal production year-over-year was caused by reduced availability of raw materials with the liquidity constraints imposed as the Company completed its balance sheet restructuring.

Lead market metal production at Port Pirie of 51kt was 27% lower compared to H1 2018 due to the failure of the main gas duct on the TSL furnace. This failure of the TSL furnace led to the subsequent shutdown of the blast furnace from 26 April 2019 until the end of July 2019 due to a lack of feed as a result of the extended outage in the TSL furnace.

Sulphuric acid production of 680,000 tonnes in H1 2019 was marginally higher compared to H1 2018.
