                            Chairman's AGM Statement


Later today, Barrie Cottingham, the non-executive chairman of Cattles plc will
make the following comments at the company's Annual General Meeting:



"I reported in my annual statement to shareholders that 2002 had been another
year of excellent results for the group and that it was especially pleasing to
see some of the benefits from the integration of our Consumer Credit activities
beginning to show through.



This trend has continued into the current year with our recent acquisitions,
Dial4aloan and the Associates loan portfolio, now successfully integrated into
the consumer division.   The group's trading to date in 2003, including credit
quality and gearing  are all in line with our expectations.



The expansion of our branch network into the local communities we currently do
not serve continues.   Credit quality, responsible lending and bad debt control
are fundamental to our overall strategy.



We remain confident of another successful year in 2003."
