BARCELONA--ASML Holding NV Chief Executive Peter Wennink said Thursday that he expected no more consolidation in the near future in the semiconductor industry in part because of regulatory concerns.
"I personally do not expect any more consolidation the industry," Mr. Wennink said at a Morgan Stanley conference in Barcelona.
Mr. Wennink, whose Dutch company makes chip-making equipment, said the four or five biggest semiconductor companies would get bigger while smaller players would focus on niches.
Qualcomm Inc. in October agreed to acquire another Dutch chip company, NXP Semiconductors NV, for $39 billion.
