General Electric Co. (GE) is in talks to buy Alstom SA (ALO.FR), a French maker of jet engines and oil-field equipment, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday on its website, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
A deal, which may be for more than $13 billion, could be announced as soon as next week.
Representatives for General Electric and Alstom declined comment to Bloomberg.
