PARIS--French industrial gas manufacturer and supplier Air Liquide SA (AI.FR) Tuesday reiterated it expects its net profit this year to rise, cheered by upbeat results from its main businesses in Europe and China during the third quarter.
The company said revenue in the quarter rose 7.8% to 4.1 billion euros ($4.53 billion). Analysts polled by Factset expected the company to report revenue worth EUR4.06 billion. Excluding the positive effect of a weaker euro, which made revenue from the U.S., Japan and Canada appear stronger when translated into euros, sales grew 4.6% in the quarter.
The company's revenue was lifted by the opening of new plants in China, which offset the effects of the economic slowdown on Air Liquide's business in the country, and a gradual recovery in Europe where the health-care business grew and demand for its industrial gases increased.
As a result, the company said its net profit for 2015 will be higher than the EUR1.64 billion reported for 2014.
