Air France-KLM (AF.FR) said Friday that its two major airlines, Air France and KLM, will swap their remaining orders of Boeing Co.'s (BA) 787 jets and Airbus SE's (AIR.FR) A350 planes to improve the group long-haul fleet's efficiency.
The Franco-Dutch airline said that between 2021 and 2023, Air France will transfer its six Boeing 787 aircraft to KLM, while the current firm order for seven A350-900 jets for KLM will be transferred to Air France.
"This is the first step toward harmonizing and simplifying the Air France-KLM Group fleet at its two major airlines," group Chief Executive Benjamin Smith said.
Further fleet developments at Air France are currently under study and stakeholders are being consulted, the company said.
