First, the Company is pleased to announce that Daniel Dayan will be promoted to become an executive director of the Company with effect from 1 January 2004, retaining his role as Chief Executive of the Intelligent Building Systems sector. Charles Korbell has also judged this to be the right moment to step down from the Board to allow him to concentrate more on his role as Chief Executive of the Security Printing Services sector, which operates exclusively in North America. In that capacity, he will continue to drive this important business forward and build on its successful strategy. He will leave the Board on 31 December 2003. In addition, Novar is pleased to announce that Hans Nilsson will be joining the Board on 1 January 2004 as an independent non-executive director. He is the Chief Executive of Spectris plc. Gerry Murphy will be leaving the Board on 31 December 2003 after over six years service as a non-executive director. His role as Chairman of the Audit Committee will be taken by Oliver Stocken. Novar's Chairman, Sir Graham Hearne, said: "I am pleased to welcome Daniel on his promotion to the Board after nine years service within the Novar Group, most recently in charge of the development of the Intelligent Building Systems sector. At Charles' request, we have agreed that he will step down from the Board. We will miss having him as a fellow director, but the demands on his time caused by the need to travel from Texas to the UK for regular Board meetings are significant, and we have acceded to his request so that he can spend more time on the issues of the Security Printing business. I am delighted that Hans has agreed to join our Board. His experience, particularly within the electronic and controls industries, will be of great value to the Novar Group in continuing its strategic focus on strong businesses in growth markets. Gerry has been an invaluable member of the Board since he joined us in 1997, and has been a highly effective Chairman of the Audit Committee. We will miss him, and wish him every success in the future. We are pleased that Oliver Stocken, formerly Finance Director of Barclays plc, has agreed to take on the Chairmanship of the Audit Committee." Notes to Editors: Daniel Dayan joined Novar plc in 1994. He is an Engineering graduate from Cambridge University and spent his early career with ICI and Arthur D. Little. He has held general management positions of increasing responsibility in the Group, including Managing Director - MK Electric, Managing Director - Electrical Devices and Systems, and Managing Director - UK and Ireland Region of Intelligent Building Systems. He is currently the Chief Executive of the Intelligent Building Systems sector. Hans Nilsson is Chief Executive of Spectris plc, formerly Fairey Group plc, which he joined in 1997.
