          EXTENSION OF EXERCISE DATE OF WARRANTS ISSUED TO DIRECTORS


Northern Petroleum Plc announces the extension of the exercise date of the
following warrants, originally issued to its Directors on 13 November 2001, to
purchase 1p Ordinary Shares of the Company as follows:


     R H R Latham                                  600,000
     D R Musgrove                                1,250,000
     D A Roberts                                   400,000
     J M White                                     600,000


The above warrants were due to be exercised on or before 30 November 2003 at a
subscription price of 3.125p per share, but the Board has decided to extend the
exercise date until 30 November 2005 at the same subscription price. The
extension of the exercise date is a continuation of the Board's policy of making
low salary payments but providing performance based incentives to its Directors.
