New Circuit City National Survey Shows Families Want Tech Tools to Make the
Most of Summer Road Trips
RICHMOND, Va., May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite sky-high gasoline prices,
millions of American families still plan to hit the road during the upcoming
vacation season. And a new national survey from electronics retailer Circuit
City shows parents and kids often turn to technology for entertainment,
guidance and help on the road.
More than five thousand people responded to the "Just what I needed for my
summer vacation" survey.* Parents and young respondents had different ideas
about which technology device they'd most like to use during a family road
trip.
* 53 percent of parents said they'd like to have a portable DVD player
available in the car
* 56 percent of kids said they're prefer to have a portable music
player, such as a CD player or MP3 player
* Almost a quarter of parents said they'd like to have a satellite
navigation system
Digital satellite radio, with coast-to-coast clear reception, also sparked
interest in the survey. The cell phone, with its obvious utility for calling
for emergency help and updating travel reservations, was considered the obvious
top choice for travel technology.
*The "Just what I needed for my summer vacation" survey was commissioned by
Circuit City Stores, Inc., and conducted on the Internet by Decision Analyst,
Inc. of Arlington, Texas. The survey's margin of error is +/-2%.
