Diego Della Valle, chief executive officer of luxury accessory maker Tod's SpA (TOD.MI), tendered his resignation Tuesday from the board of directors at Italian insurance company Assicurazioni Generali SpA (G.MI).
In a filing to the Italian stock exchange, Generali said Mr. Della Valle's departure follows "his disagreement over the manner in which the replacement of the group CEO, Giovanni Perissinotto, has been managed."
Generali said Mr. Della Valle was an independent nonexecutive director and wasn't a member of any board committee.
Top shareholders at Generali ousted Mr. Perissinotto over the weekend in a boardroom coup and named Mario Greco, CEO at general insurance company Zurich Insurance Group, as the new Generali head.
On Saturday, Mr. Della Valle had already expressed his disapproval, saying the boardroom coup would damage Italy's credibility on international markets.
