FRANKFURT--Siemens AG (SIE.XE) has received an order to supply high-voltage direct current converter stations to link the Dutch and Danish power grids, the company said Monday.
Siemens' portion of the order comes to about 170 million euros ($185.47 million), it said. The cable is being supplied by Italy's Prysmian SpA (PRY.MI). The power link will have transmission capacity of 700 megawatts and is set to begin operation in 2019.
Siemens said it will supply the converters to Denmark's Energienet.dk and its Dutch counterpart TenneT TSO.
"The HVDC link between Denmark and Holland has been designated as one of the European Commission's projects of common interest to help create an integrated European Union energy market," Siemens said.
