Leonardo SpA (LDO.MI) has signed a 14-month contract with Petroleo Brasileiro SA (PBR), or Petrobras, to detect oil spills using satellite observation, the Italian company said Monday.
Leonardo got the contract through its subsidiary Telespazio Brasil. The company will provide satellite monitoring to more than 50 oil rigs north of Rio de Janeiro.
"The activity, which continues a multi-year collaboration, aims to detect any oil spills from the exploration and production operations," it said.
